Driving better decisions
through collaborative working
Good business decisions are driven by the candid exchange of ideas and opinions: in other words, a bit of conflict to ensure all perspectives are considered. Our Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument workshops enable the healthy conflict you need to empower, not stifle, transformational debate.
What is the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument?
We all have different ways of dealing with conflict. Some avoid it, some seek compromise, others run right into it.
Developed by Drs Kenneth Thomas and Ralph Kilmann, the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument identifies five unique approaches to conflict and shows how increased misunderstanding, tensions and conflict can arise when individuals are overreliant on only one or two of the approaches.
By understanding these issues, individuals can use the TKI process to develop a better knowledge of their specific approach and promote fairer and more effective debate.
How the Thomas-Kilmann Instrument
builds your business
The right decisions
The right way
It’s clear that unhealthy conflict creates division and discord, but it also slows down decision-making, creativity and innovation. Get major decisions right and make them in the most efficient way possible by helping your people manage their responses when potentially destructive conflicts arise.
Encourage your people
to put the team first
Business growth suffers when people insist on getting their way. Cultivate a selfless, truly collaborative environment by encouraging your people to realise when they’re putting their own needs above those of others or the business.
Unlock the innovation
that builds businesses
Even the best ideas need the due diligence that conflicting opinions create. Pave the way for truly transformative innovation by allowing your people to interrogate ideas from every angle whilst still maintaining respect and harmony.
Building better conflict resolution and negotiation skills
A clear process
designed for efficiency
Conflict is a difficult thing for anyone to address and it presents itself in many different ways. For some it can be the source of great anxiety and can be detrimental to the business. Before taking any steps on the TKI Conflict Mode process, we work with you to understand the specifics of your conflict challenges and how the methodology can help solve them for your people and teams.
After the consultation, we conduct structured workshops that introduce your people to the methodology, showing them its psychological grounding and impact. Prior to the workshop, we ask participants to complete an online evaluator so we can share the results during the session. Just as with Belbin and Insights Discovery, this sharing-based approach promotes trust and understanding between individuals and teams, therefore helping them break through the barriers that may be at the heart of the conflict.
Following the Group Session, we conduct individual sessions to help your people process their results and make the most of their new-found insights. These sessions are private and confidential, built around the needs of the individual, and designed to achieve the self-awareness needed to resolve their challenges when they are in situations of negotiation or conflict.
Feedback is a critical part of our work here at Creating Dynamic. So, at milestones agreed upon during the Strategic Consultation stage, we meet with the C-suite or senior leadership team to update you on progress and review development against the agreed aims. This helps us anticipate changing circumstances, adapt to your needs, and deliver the best results possible. What your people will learn
