Recommended business audiobooks for learning on-the-go

As Founder and Director of Creating Dynamic, I’m passionate about highlighting how I have benefited from ‘learning on the move’, both for individuals and teams, using business audiobooks.

In my opinion, management and leadership is about getting the best out of people and ensuring a strong culture, with positive engagement from all colleagues within a business.

I have tried many ways to achieve this and the most cost-effective and simple way, I have found, is to listen to business audiobooks, especially if you do it as a team or group of managers, each listening to the same book over a month. At agreed intervals, the group then can discuss the contents in terms of practices and learning outcomes and implement these improvements into their individual lives, as well as within the team and the company. A win win solution.

Why audiobooks?

My philosophy originates from when I was seven years old and one of the prominent children’s programmes on television was Jackanory (1965 – 1996), a 20-minute show when someone read out aloud a book. When Audible was launched in 1995, I was there, an early adopter. Now, I listen to Audible publications when I am commuting, travelling on the train, doing things around the home, exercising or out on a long walk. My library consists of over 1000 books, and I am an unpaid volunteer for their Audible Business Community Listening Panel, providing my views and opinions back to the company on audiobooks before they are launched. Audible leadership and management books are a good way for professionals to develop their thoughts and skills at a time and place suitable to them. Like with anything, the individual must have a self-learning and development desire to be of the right mindset to take on the topic they are listening to, in order to gain the maximum benefit, when implementing new ways of working.

How Audible Works

Audible is a monthly subscription model whereby you pay for a credit each month, and for that credit, you can choose one of the many titles. Alternatively, you can pay for 24 credits in one go at the cost of £90.83 excluding VAT. To sign up, you need your own Audible account.
